Mos Def as Chuck Berry in CADILLAC RECORDS

Reuters reports that Mos Def has been cast to play Chuck Berry in the movie “Cadillac Records.”
Additional cast includes Gabrielle Union who will play Geneva Wade.
The Sony BMG film is set in 1950s Chicago and follows the turbulent lives of Chess Records co-founder Leonard Chess (Adrien Brody), and the label’s artists, including Waters (Jeffrey Wright), Little Walter (Columbus Short), Howlin’ Wolf (Eamonn Walker), Etta James (Beyonce Knowles) and Willie Dixon (Cedric the Entertainer).
To me, Mos Def is a joy to watch, he brings such subtleties to all his characters and emerges himself so much in them, that we truly believe he is the character.
From The Woodsman and Something The Lord Made, to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, I cannot get enough of him.
So with that in mind, it should come as no surprise that this news comes with great anticipation to see his performance.
