Could Keanu Reeves star in the COWBOY BEBOP Movie?

According to Firstshowing.net, Keanu Reeves could be starring in the live action adaptation of COWBOY BEBOP:

However, a good friend inside the industry who is a very reliable source wrote in to tell me that the film is being fast tracked inside the studio and will most likely be out by 2010. He also revealed that Keanu Reeves has been attached as the lead character Spike for over eight months now and is still set for the role. Unfortunately there isn’t a writer or director attached yet, but with some new forward momentum coming from last week’s announcement, I don’t think it will take too long.

I haven’t actually seen Cowboy Bebop, but might have to put it on my list. And if Keanu Reeves stars in the live action movie, well then that just guarantees my movie ticket.

What do you guys think? Keanu Reeves in Cowboy Bebop, is it a do or a don’t? Should they even make a live action movie?

That is damn horrible if he were to play spike!! They need someone who can actually act in order to play him!

I personally really love Keanu Reeves, so I wouldn’t mind having him in the movie. Although I didn’t see the original, so I can’t say if he would actually fit the character.

Definetly a “Don’t”

We’ve seen enough crappy Hollywood versions of great Japanese movies.
Spike is the coolest guy in the universe while Keanu unfortunately just isn’t.
I’ll definetly pass this one.

Keanu is a horrible choice for Spike… Spike has a very deep past and Keanu only has one emotion… - blah!

Although they could play him as a darker character… an NO I Don’t mean Vicious, but rather a side character…

I won’t even bitch but just silently sigh and shake my head. My opinion on who should play spike according to diversity, caliber of acting and somewhat looks. I’m fickled on it, but Brad Pitt. I was watching Snatch today and that role was completely reminiscent of Spike. Comical at heart, arrogant, confident, energetic & bouncing around when he fights with a smile on his face cuz he knows he can mess shit up, but dark and disturbed due to his past that foreshadowed where he ended up from start to finish…Kind of like the Spike Spiegel saga. I mean if the part is gonna be pulled off right because the part of Spike is more drama than action. Hands down, any true fan of the Manga and Anime knows this! Then Faye Valentine I was gonna say Angelina Jolie cuz she can do sexy, cunning and could play a trick with a gun, but then i thought Femke Jansen (jean grey from xmen) cuz shes had many parts exactly like the role. For Jet I would say Ron Perlman (hellboy) cuz he can be chummy, a leader figure and has an amazing range of emotion from lively when riled to solemn and easy goin. Vicious I would def. have to say Heath Ledger, but god rest his soul Would have been perfect. Other than that, I would truly say Johnny Depp cuz he could pull it off effortlessly. For ed, the only person that comes to mind would be Alyson Hannigan (Band camp chick from American Pie) because she could play the role well. Lots of energy, red hair to boot, and could pull of a quirky, cute tech nerd blindfolded and make it look good. Ein, well…a charismatic welsh corgi. Julia..hmm thats a mystery.

i think he would be perfect, think of him with the same attitude as in constantine and make him kick ass like neo. its perfect i think. they should have frasier for jet lol! and angalena jolie for fay…

Hmmmm….Cowboy bebop hell yeah, but keanu is like a surfer dude pick someone else & please don’t destroy the storyline of the movie. Seen worse from Dragon ball & Tekken.:(
