WATCHMEN
Director: Zack Snyder

Release Date: March 6, 2009
There is no doubt in my mind that Watchmen will be the most anticipated movie of 2009. Although there is still some drama on whether this movie will come out or not, I can’t wait to see this legendary comic book come to life. The Watchmen trailer itself is mind blowing and the story is contemporary enough to appeal to most casual moviegoers. Synopsis: “Watchmen” is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the “Doomsday Clock” – which charts the USA’s tension with the Soviet Union – is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion – a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers – Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity… but who is watching the Watchmen?” |

RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN
Director: Andy Fickman
Cast: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Ciaran Hinds, AnnaSophia Robb, Carla Gugino, Garry Marshall
Release Date: March 13, 2009
Hmm. Let’s see: Disney Movie + Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson = At least 20 Million at the box office. It also equals to a movie that I will probably not go see but hey, things can always change. Synopsis: A UFO expert enlists the help of a cabbie to protect two siblings with paranormal powers from the clutches of an organization that wants to use the kids for their nefarious plans. |

DUPLICITY
Director: Tony Gilroy
Cast: Clive Owen, Julia Roberts, Tom Wilkinson, Paul Giamatti
Release Date: March 20, 2009
Whatever Clive Owen is in, I will watch. Now I may not always like it but I will always watch it. However, something tells me that Clive Owen and Julia Roberts in a con movie is a pretty good combo. Synopsis: A pair of corporate spies (Owen and Roberts) who share a steamy past hook up to pull off the ultimate con job on their respective bosses. |

KNOWING
Director: Alex Proyas
Cast: Nicolas Cage, Rose Byrne, Chandler Canterbury, and Adrienne Pickering
Release Date: March 20, 2009
Nicholas Cage is back in Knowing as someone who is trying to uncover a mystery that can impact the world. Hmmm…somehow sounds familiar. Synopsis: A teacher (Cage) opens a time capsule that has been dug up at his son’s elementary school; in it are some chilling predictions — some that have already occurred and others that are about to — that lead him to believe his family plays a role in the events that are about to unfold. |

THIS SIDE OF THE TRUTH
Director: Ricky Gervais
Cast: Tina Fey, Jason Bateman, Jennifer Garner, Jonah Hill, Ricky Gervais, Rob Lowe
Release Date: March 20, 2009
Tina Fey directed by Ricky Gervais = SNL meets The Office. Sold! Synopsis: Mark Billison – a very unsuccessful screenwriter in his forties with average looks, moderate intelligence and little hope for the future. He’s basically a nice chap, but a bit of a loser. In a world without fiction, film entertainment consists of unembellished readings of historical facts, and since Mark is saddled with writing about a particulary uneventful period of history he finds himself in the doldrums career-wise. However, Mark is about to make a momentous discovery – the intentionally false statement. |

MONSTERS vs ALIENS

Release Date: March 27, 2009
Dreamworks is back with another Monster hit, no pun intended. The trailer is ridiculously funny and hopefully bods well for the movie itself. Synopsis: When a meteorite from outer space hits a young girl and turns her into a giant monster, she is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years. |
