Movies Coming Out This Week December 19 2008

Wondering what movies are coming out to theaters this Friday December 12 2008? Here is a list with our recommendations (which you can take or leave, it’s up to you).

DEFINITELY WATCH AT THE MOVIES

Seven Pounds

Seven Pounds

This is Will Smith, so that pretty much means you have to see it at the movies. And the trailer looks intriguing.

Synopsis:: In the film, Smith plays Ben Thomas, an IRS agent with a fateful secret who embarks on an extraordinary journey of redemption by forever changing the lives of seven strangers.

Yes Man

Yes Man

I just love Jim Carrey and I can always use laughter in my life. Plus the red bull part is hilarious.

Synopsis:: Yes Man is about a guy who decides to say “yes” to everything for an entire year.

DEFINITELY RENT

The Tale of Despereaux

The Tale of Despereaux

This looks like a cute animation movie that I would enjoy when I am sitting cozily at home.

Synopsis:: The Tale of Despereaux is about a small mouse with large ears, who falls in love with the beautiful Princess Pea, the only problem is that she’s human.

The Class (Entre les murs) (NY & LA Only)

The Class

The Class looks like it’s in the vein of The Chorus but darker and more realistic. I don’t really want to see it in theaters, but it might be a good rental. I will say this, the movie depicts that environment very truthfully, so it might be interesting to watch.

Synopsis:: Teacher and novelist François Bégaudeau plays a version of himself as he negotiates a year with his racially mixed students from a tough Parisian neighborhood. (Source: imdb.com)

The Wrestler (Limited)

The whole fighting plot line is not something I am particularly interesting in watching at the movies. But it does look like there are some great performances, so it’s definitely worth renting.

Synopsis:: A drama centered on retired professional wrestler Randy “The Ram” Robinson as he makes his way through the independent circuit. (Source: imdb.com)

Nothing But The Truth (NY & LA Only)

Nothing But The Truth

Conspiracy/Political movies are always interesting to check out. Plus there is quite a great cast.

Synopsis:: In Washington, D.C., a female reporter faces a possible jail sentence for outing a CIA agent and refusing to reveal her source.
