TAKING CHANCE Picture & Movie Trailer – Sundance 2009 In Competition

Kevin Bacon - Taking Chance

The fourth movie from the Sundance Film Festival 2009 that we will take a look at is TAKING CHANCE.

Make sure to keep an eye out for that one because not only does it star Kevin Bacon, but it’s an HBO film, which usually means high quality. The film is based on true events and I really love the feel of the trailer.

Synopsis: Based on real-life events, Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, a volunteer military escort officer, accompanies the body of 19-year-old Marine Chance Phelps back to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming.
Director: Ross Katz
Screenwriters: LtCol Michael R. Strobl, USMC (Ret.) and Ross Katz
Cast: Kevin Bacon

I have only seen trailers for the movie, and do not have cable at my home. I happened to see the trailer on YouTube when I was looking for another video, and this caught my eye. As a retired USAF veteran, I am going to try to see this movie in its entire format. I served as a Registered Nurse for the Air National Guard during the first Gulf War. Although I never saw actual combat during the 20 years of service I gave my country, I can sympathise with those who have. I have seen Kevin Bacon in some of his other works, and having seen a picture of LtCol Strobl, Mr. Bacon bears a striking resemblance, and he makes a darned fine looking officer. He obviously studied military bearing very well, and from what I’ve heard from others is quite correct in many other ways in his acting in a military role. I have also heard that this movie is not the typical Hollywood stuff, and is quite bipartisan as far as lack of any “political message”. I am loking forward to seeing this. G.
