Two Lovers

Synopsis: Two Lovers is a romantic drama set in New York City. It tells the story of Leonard, an attractive but depressed young man who moves back in with his parents following a recent heartbreak. An aspiring photographer, Leonard works part-time at his father’s dry-cleaners. His concerned parents try to set him up with Sandra, the sweet and caring daughter of a close family friend. A big family dinner serves as their introduction and Leonard arranges to see her again.
Then late one night Leonard looks out his bedroom window and notices a ravishing young woman he’s never seen before. Michelle recently moved into an apartment in his family’s building – an apartment paid for by the wealthy married man she’s seeing.

Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Gwyneth Paltrow, Isabella Rossellini, Vinessa Shaw, Elias Koteas, John Ortiz, Moni Moshonov

Director: James Gray

Recommendations: I was intrigued by the trailer for Two Lovers, and because of the cast I think it’s worth a rental.

The Education of Charlie Banks

Intrigued by Charlie’s privileged lifestyle, the charismatic Mick quickly wins over Charlie’s friends and his crush, Mary (Eva Amurri) as he seamlessly integrates himself into Charlie’s life. Unnerved yet also in awe of Mick’s easy charm, Charlie’s unresolved feelings of jealousy, admiration and fear — as well as an unspoken secret between the two — threatens to come to a head with ruinous consequences.

Cast: Jesse Eisenberg, Jason Ritter, Chris Marquette, Eva Amurri, Sebastian Stan, Gloria Votsis

Director: Fred Durst

Recommendations: The trailer of The Education of Charlie Banks looked ok and I think I’m mostly curious to see what Fred Durst came up with as a director.
