A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET Comic Con 2009 Panel

The Comic Con 2009 panel for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET presented the very first trailer of the revival from the iconic 1980s horror film of the same name.
Among the people on the panel were producers Andrew Form and Bradley Fuller, director Samuel Bayer, and Jackie Earle Haley.
The shooting wrapped about 2 weeks ago, but they had put together a special trailer to show us. Unfortunately, I’m not a horror fan and I haven’t seen the original movie, so this was a little lost on me. But I did enjoy the beginning of the trailer where we saw Jackie Earle Haley, who plays the new Freddy Krueger, get burned alive, which leads him to become people’s worst nightmare.
Apparently, this new version of the film will feel different than the first one. The producers and director described it as scarier and darker than the first one.
It was also mentioned that the scars on Freddy’s face will be grounded into more reality than before. Jackie Earle Haley commented that if he had walked on the street with his face makeup on and normal clothes, people would have believe his face really had been burned. We will also learn more about the backstory of Freddy.
Unfortunately, there will be no cameo from Robert Englund in the movie, but it was mentioned that he was supportive of the movie.

While I am interested in this movie, I find it hard to believe that the film, in this day and age and from the makers of the Friday The 13th remake, could even remotely be scarier than the original. The original was one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. Will the remake be darker?. Sure. Scarier?. Not a chance.
Whatever. this film is going to be crap because that is all Platinum Dunes knows how to make. I like JEH and all but comon.
