New DVD Releases for the Week of July 28 2009
Here is a list of the new DVD Releases for the week of July 28 2009 (for TV on DVD releases head over to Daemon’s TV):

Fast & Furious
Synopsis: Vin Diesel and Paul Walker reteam for the ultimate chapter of the franchise built on speed — Fast and Furious. Heading back to the streets where it all began, they rejoin Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster to blast muscle, tuner and exotic cars across Los Angeles and floor through the Mexican desert in the new high-octane action-thriller.
When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him. And from convoy heists to precision tunnel crawls across international lines, two men will find the best way to get revenge: push the limits of what’s possible behind the wheel.
Cast: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, John Ortiz, Michelle Rodriguez, Brandon Jackson
Director: Justin Lin
Recommendations: This could be a fun rental if you’re in the mood for some crazy car chases.
Buy it: FAST & FURIOUS on Amazon (also available on Blu-ray)

Dragonball Evolution
Synopsis: Dragonball is adapted from the manga created by Akira Toriyama; the work was also turned into a Japanese anime series that played all over the world. It tells the story of an alien sent to destroy Earth, who has a change of heart and decides to join the humans in their fight against various aliens and bad guys.
Cast: Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Jamie Chung, Emmy Rossum, Chow Yun-Fat
Director: James Wong
Recommendations: Dragonball Evolution just didn’t get that many good reviews, so I’ll wait to watch it on HBO or something.

Bart Got a Room
Synopsis: Nerdy high school senior Danny has spent six hundred bucks on the hotel room, the limo and the tux for his prom. He’s only missing one thing–the girl. Hampered by well-intentioned but clueless advice from his newly-divorced parents and unsympathetic mocking from his best friends, Danny battles peer pressure, teen angst and his own raging hormones as he desperately searches for a prom date. “What other evening in your life is as big? Maybe your wedding night, but odds are that’s gonna end in divorce anyway,” muses Danny’s friend Craig as the two pals lounge poolside in the decidedly unhip retirement community town they call home. Danny’s luckless quest turns to panic when he learns that even Bart — the school’s biggest dweeb — has secured not only a date, but also a hotel room for the night.
Cast: Steven Kaplan, Alia Shawkat, Brandon Hardesty, Jennifer Tilly, Cheryl Hines, William H. Macy
Director: Brian Hecker
Recommendations: Even though the concept sounds fun, I think I’m going to hold off on seeing it until it’s on TV.

Miss March
Synopsis: A young man who awakens from a four-year coma to hear that his once virginal high-school sweetheart has since become a centerfold in one of the world’s most famous men’s magazines. He and his sex-crazed best friend decide to take a cross- country road trip in order to crash a party at the magazine’s legendary mansion headquarters and win back the girl.
Cast: Zach Cregger, Trevor Moore, Raquel Alessi, Molly Stanton, Holly Hindman, Craig Robinson
Director: Zach Cregger, Trevor Moore
Recommendations: The trailer did absolutely nothing for me, so I think I’ll skip it altogether.
Buy it: MISS MARCH on Amazon (also available on Blu-ray)
Did you even watch Fast and Furious? It was by far the worst on in the entire series. There was not one “crazy car chase” in the whole movie. Also, half the time the cars were CGI. I always enjoyed the FF movies (even tokyo drift) but this one was a horrible story and laughable action.
@Liam – No, I haven’t seen Fast & Furious, Which is why I said that it could be fun mostly based on the previous movies. But if you say there aren’t any car chases, then I agree that it pretty beats the point of the movie, so maybe it’s ok to wait to watch it on TV.
