My son loved this movie and keeps asking to buy this movie for him after seeing it once. Do you know when it is going to come out in DVD or Vidio?
I thought it was cute but not as good as “Spirited Away”. But my son loved it more then “Spirited Away”.

I too am not happy about this dubbing, I have been a very firm supporter of Disney’s dubbing for studio ghibli films up till now and from what I’ve seen I am disappointed with the two main characters which is too bad since Tina Fey and Betty White are doing voices too, they’re wonderful actresses. But to change the song so much is a blasphemy. And people shouldn’t say that it needs to be translated for the kids or whatever because the main songs for Spirted Away and Howl’s moving Castle were still in Japanese and it wasn’t a problem. Not to mention the fact that one condition when taking the rights was that they wouldn’t change them too much and making the song techno is a very big change. They could have done it in the style.

Basically I think this was a big miss for Disney, you don’t change something that much just because currently there’s a fad for the actors in it (or even less important the actors siblings). I don’t think Disney fans would be too happy if the only version of their favorite movie was changed to such an extent and there was not other way to see it.

This looks great! Ponyo is such an adorable name for her… As for the above post , the people who translated it did there best to suit the want and ionterest of english speaking people. They did the same for Sailor Moon ( my fav show still ) and pokemon and soforth. If they kept the japanese song we wouldnt be able to understand the words or the meaning. I had trouble saying Ponyo at first so i dont blame them. And what does Sosuke mean anyway? i cant even say it. English is different then Japanese we say things different.

Besides my rant just then..
the movie looks wonderful!

This is an outrage. I recently saw a brief advertisement of what these children and another woman claimed was “PANYO”. I am Japanese, and I love many of Hayao Miyazaki’s films. This is a disgrace to him. I was angry at the fact that Disney would make this (no disrespect for Walt Disney, I used to love Disney, but the modern “Disney Channel” is a waste of time and money). I was even more disappointed that these children and the woman advertising this did not make any effort to pronounce anything correctly, such as “SASKE” instead of “SOSUKE” and “PANYO, PANYO, PANYO, tiny little fish”, which should be (translated) “Ponyo, ponyo, ponyo the girl of the fish.”
Another thing I could not stand was how these children and whomever decided to change the beautiful song made it “Techno”: The Japanese girl and man singing this are happy and bouncy, as opposed to this; a fraud.
I can honestly say that I hate what they have made this cute children’s film.
