Movies Coming Out This Weekend August 7 2009
Wondering what movies are coming out to theaters this Friday, August 7, 2009? Here is a list with our recommendations (which you can take or leave, it’s up to you).

DEFINITELY WATCH AT THE MOVIES
Cold Souls (Limited)
I really enjoyed Cold Souls and so if you’re in the mood for something different you should check it out. You can also read my review here.

Cold Souls Synopsis: Is your soul weighing you down? Paul Giamatti has found a solution! In the surreal comedy COLD SOULS, Paul Giamatti plays an actor named… Paul Giamatti. Stumbling upon an article in The New Yorker about a high-tech company that extracts, deep-freezes and stores people’s souls, Paul very well might have found the key to happiness for which he’s been searching. But, complications arise when he is the unfortunate victim of “soul-trafficking.”
I Sell the Dead (Limited)
I saw I Sell the Dead at the LA Film Fest and loved it. You can read my review here.

I Sell the Dead Synopsis: The harrowing tale of Arthur Blake and Willie Grimes, two bumbling grave robbers embroiled in a series of adventures with the dead and not so dead, is told by Blake to a strange priest on the eve of his execution.
Julie & Julia
This is definitely targeted towards ladies, so guys this might be a good movie to bring a date to, and ladies, how about making it a ladies’ night?!

Julie & Julia Synopsis: Based on two true stories, ‘Julie & Julia’ intertwines the lives of two women who, though separated by time and space, are both at loose ends…until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible.
Paper Heart (Limited)
I’ve been meaning to see Paper Heart for so long, but so far have always missed the opportunity to. But now that it’s out I’m hoping that I’ll be able to catch it soon.

Paper Heart Synopsis: PAPER HEART follows Charlyne Yi as she embarks on a quest across America to make a documentary about the one subject she doesn’t fully understand: Love. Cera becomes the object of her affection. Weaving together reality and fantasy, the film combines elements of documentary and traditional storytelling to bring a fresh perspective to the modern romance. PAPER HEART also stars Jake Johnson (Red Belt) who plays the film director documenting Yi’s international journey that includes stops in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Nashville, New York City, Toronto and Paris.
DEFINITELY RENT
A Perfect Getaway
I am intrigued by the story of the movie, but I think it’s one that I’ll wait to check out on DVD.

A Perfect Giveaway Synopsis: Cliff and Cydney are an adventurous young couple celebrating their honeymoon by backpacking to one of the most beautiful, and remote, beaches in Hawaii. Hiking the wild, secluded trails, they believe they’ve found paradise. But when the pair comes across a group of frightened hikers discussing the horrifying murder of another newlywed couple on the islands, they begin to question whether they should turn back. Unsure whether to stay or flee, Cliff and Cydney join up with two other couples, and things begin to go terrifyingly wrong. Far from civilization or rescue, everyone begins to look like a threat and nobody knows whom to trust. Paradise becomes hell on earth as a brutal battle for survival begins…
DEFINITELY WATCH ON TV
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
I don’t know why, but G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra doesn’t appeal to me at all. So I think it might end up being something that I watch on TV.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Synopsis: From the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps, the elite G.I. JOE team uses the latest in next-generation spy and military equipment to fight the corrupt arms dealer Destro and the growing threat of the mysterious Cobra organization to prevent them from plunging the world into chaos.
