Movies Coming Out This Weekend August 21 2009
Wondering what movies are coming out to theaters this Friday, August 21 2009? Here is a list with my intentions to watch at the movies, rent, watch on TV, or skip all together.

DEFINITELY WATCH AT THE MOVIES
Fifty Dead Men Walking
I wrote about this movie recently and it looks like an interesting story. I might give it a shot in theaters.

Fifty Dead Men Walking Synopsis: Inspired by an incredible true story, “Fifty Dead Men Walking” is a sweeping and gritty thriller featuring Jim Sturgess (21, Across the Universe) in a star-making performance opposite Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley (The Wackness, Elegy). Set in Belfast in 1980 where the Irish Republican Army is waging an all-out insurgent war against the British occupation, Martin McGartland (Sturgess) is a young small-time Belfast hustler recruited by a wily British intelligence agent (Kingsley) to infiltrate the IRA. Martin quickly uses his natural instincts as a con man to get inside the IRA and starts feeding information to the British, saving hundreds of lives in the process. But with each successful mission, Martin becomes increasingly in danger of being caught and exposed. The IRA is ruthless, and once an infiltrator has been exposed he becomes a “dead man walking.” As Martin becomes consumed by his double life, and his British handlers threaten to sell him out if he refuses to continue his counter-intelligence work, he is plunged into a dangerous game in which the stakes could not be higher.
Five Minutes of Heaven
I want to see this movie mainly for the actors and I am curious to find out how the story turns out.

Five Minutes of Heaven Synopsis: Two men from the same town but from different sides of the Irish political divide discover that the past is never dead–in fact it isn’t even past.
Inglourious Basterds
Quentin Tarantino’s latest film is a must see this weekend for me. Already bought my ticket!

Shorts
This one is for my entertainment and it might also be a good family movie to see this weekend. And the fact that Robert Rodriguez directed it is a definite plus.

Shorts Synopsis: In the suburb of Black Falls, all the houses look the same and everyone works for BLACK BOX Unlimited Worldwide Industries Incorporated, whose Mr. Black’s BLACK BOX is the ultimate communication and do-it-all gadget that’s sweeping the nation. Other than keeping his parents employed, however, Mr. Black’s BLACK BOX has done nothing for 11-year-old Toe Thompson, who just wants to make a few friends… until a mysterious rainbow-colored rock falls from the sky, hits him in the head and changes everything. The Rainbow Rock does Mr. Black’s BLACK BOX one better: it grants wishes to anyone who holds it. Before long, wishes-gone-wrong have left the neighborhood swarming with tiny spaceships, crocodile armies, giant boogers… and outrageous magical mayhem around every corner. But it’s not until the grown-ups get their hands on the Rock that the trouble really starts. Now Toe and his newfound friends must join forces to save their town from itself, discovering along the way that what you wish for is not always what you want.
DEFINITELY RENT
Post Grad
If I’m being honest, Post Grad is the type of movie that I love renting because it relaxes me. I don’t need to think much when I watch it, I can just relax. Although those types of movies are not all always that great, even just for entertainment purposes, so let’s hope this one doesn’t disappoint.

Post Grad Synopsis: Recent college graduate Ryden Malby (Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel) has just survived for years of higher education, but when she’s forced to move back into her childhood home, the stress of dealing with her eccentric family, landing a job, and finding the right guy leaves her with precious little… time to ponder where her life is truly heading.
DEFINITELY WATCH ON TV
My One and Only
This might become a rental if I am able to get through my really long Netflix list by the time it comes out, but I doubt it. So I think I’ll end up watching it on TV.

My One and Only Synopsis: A 1950s-set comedy in which the glamorous Anne Deveraux (Zellweger) embarks on a drive down the Eastern Seaboard in a quixotic search for a wealthy man to fund a new life for her and her sons.
