Is “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” the next Twilight Movie?

Amie over at Daemon’s Books just reported that Stephenie Meyer will soon release a short story titled “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner“, which will feature the tale of a newborn vampire, Bree, that is briefly mentioned in the Twilight series. Now, let’s be real, if this is done right, Bree could be the next best thing for the Twilight fans once the final movie is released. Think about it, an established franchise + a minor character + the final Twilight book made into a movie = Spin Off Potential. I am pretty sure that Stephenie Meyer and/or Summit Entertainment were aware of this possibility so I have to ask myself if we will have more “novellas” coming out in case this one doesn’t take off the way the hope.

If you read the information on Stephanie’s website about The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, you would know that the story is already incorporated into the Eclipse script, so no, there will not be a movie from this book.

Good point Katie. However, studios are infamous for making something out of very little. So is it far fetched to think that this little storyline could become more than just that? I think not.

Actually, they already used parts of this book for the Eclipse movie that’s releasing this June.

They only kept it secret until now. That’s why Bree has a bigger part in the Eclipse movie than she has in the actual Eclipse novel. They used some parts of her story too, in addition to Bella’s story.

Well I’ve heard rumors that Stephenie Meyer Will be making books about the same stories the twilight saga but in Edwards point of veiw. Have you guys heard anything about that?

Torri – Yes, she started writing the book from Edward’s perspective, called Midnight Sun, but she put it on hold after it leaked on the internet. There are no plans for its release as of yet (you can find some more information on Daemon’s Books).

Also if you are interested, you can find the partial draft of Midnight Sun that was leaked on Stephenie Meyer’s website.
