WHEN WE LEAVE Wins Two Big Tribeca Film Festival Awards

The German independent drama “When We Leave (Die Fremde)” received two major awards in the Tribeca Film Festival’s World Narrative competition this weekend, according to a Tribeca Film Festival press release.
The film, written and directed by Feo Aladag, received the Founder’s Award for Best Narrative Feature, as well as a Best Actress in a Narrative Feature award for the film’s star, Sibell Kekilli.
“When We Leave” beat 11 other competitors from around the world that were featured at the Tribeca Film Festival to win Best Narrative with its compelling story of a Muslim woman who flees to Berlin with her young son to escape her abusive husband. It also stands as the eighth major acting award for star actress Sibell Kekilli, who has previously won a Bambi Shooting Star award, as well as Best Actress at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
