Terrence Howard To Play Nelson Mandela in WINNIE
Terrence Howard will play Nelson Mandela in the new film “Winnie” alongside Jennifer Hudson, according to THR. The movie will depict the life and times of civil rights activist Nelson Mandela’s wife, Winnie Mandela. Nelson Mandela became the first black president of South Africa in 1994. The movie will begin shooting in South Africa on May 31, 2010. Shooting will take place throughout South Africa in Johannesburg and Capetown, in addition to other areas.
Darrell James Roodt will be directing the film and Oscar recipient Jennifer Hudson will play the role of Nelson Mandela’s wife. Roodt co-wrote the script with producer Andre Pieterse. “Winnie” will also be based on the book “Winnie Mandela: A Life,” by Anne Marie du Preez Bezdrob.
Howard starred in Iron Man back in 2008, while Jennifer Hudson recently won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in the film Dreamgirls. Howard also received an Oscar nomination back in 2005 for the drama “Hustle & Flow.”
