Bad Boys 3 Confirmed By Jerry Bruckheimer
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed to MTV News this week that talks to put together a third installment of the “Bad Boys” buddy cop movies are progressing in earnest.
The first two movies, released in 1995 and 2003, have grossed more than $400 million worldwide.
The films center around best friends and Miami narcotics detectives Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowery (Will Smith). In the first film, the cops must pretend to be each other as they try to protect a murder witness and reclaim a cache of drugs stolen from a police station. In the sequel Burnett and Lowery head up a task force investigating the flow of Ecstasy into Miami.
Bruckheimer said that the idea for the third movie’s story came from Will Smith. Both Smith and Lawrence have expressed interest in the film.
Michael Bay (“Transformers”) directed both films, and Lawrence told MTV News that Bay will be back for the third installment.
