THE THREE MUSKETEERS Movie Gets Its Musketeers
Paul W.S. Anderson has lined up the cast for his 3D rendition of “The Three Musketeers”, according to Heatvision Blog.
Ray Stevenson (“The Book of Eli”), Luke Evans (“Clash of the Titans”) and Matthew Macfadyen (“Robin Hood”) have been cast as Porthos, Athos and Aramis, respectively, the trio of disgraced royal guards for whom the tale is named.
“The Three Musketeers” was a popular novel by Alexandre Dumas first published in 1844. The story revolves around D’Artagnan, a young man who leaves home to join the elite fighting force. That role will likely be filled by Logan Lerman, who recently rose to fame as the title character in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.”
Christoph Waltz, who won an Academy Award for his role as a Nazi officer in “Inglourious Basterds”, is set to play Cardinal Richelieu, the Musketeers’ arch-nemesis. Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale”) will play another villain, Rochefort, and Orlando Bloom is in talks to play the devious Duke of Buckingham. Milla Jovovich, Paul Anderson’s real-life wife, will play Milady de Winter, Athos’ former lover.
The film is scheduled to begin filming in September.
