KUNG FU PANDA Sequel Gets a Rewrite

Kung Fu Panda
Screenwriter Charlie Kaufman is polishing up the script for a sequel to the 2008 animation comedy “Kung Fu Panda“, according to the Hollywood Reporter Blog. The sequel, entitled “Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom” is set to release in 2011.
The diversion into animation is a new track for Kaufman who has previously written scripts for movies like “Adaptation”, “Being John Malkovich”, and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”. Kaufman won an Oscar for his writing efforts on “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”. DreamWorks animation hired Kaufman to put the finishing touches on the sequel and he recently finished two weeks’ worth of work on the script.
Most animated films have several writers working on them. Unlike his other work, Kaufman was not the sole writer on this project; so many onlookers are awaiting the release of the sequel to see how much of his stamp is on this film.
