Lili Fini Zanuck To Direct ASSAULT ON TONY’S

Assault on Tony's
Nearly two decades after her last turn at the helm of a movie set, Oscar-winning producer Lili Fini Zanuck has been tapped to direct a film adaptation of “Assault on Tony’s.”
The Hollywood Reporter also reveals that the new film, based on John O’Brien’s dark 1996 novel, will be produced by Mark Johnson, who is expected to begin production by year’s end.
Zanuck was best known for the successful producing career she shared with husband Richard Zanuck, including “Driving Miss Daisy” which won the Best Picture Oscar in 1990. She made her debut as a director on the 1991 feature “Rush” moving then to helm TV projects such as “From the Earth to the Moon.”
The new film follows O’Brien’s story about race riots raging outside a bar called Tony’s, where five white patrons are barricaded for 17 days and where tension escalates as the liquor supply dwindles.
Your readers should know that Lily Fini Zanuck retains no rights to the intellectual property known as “The Assault on Tony’s” by John O’Brien. All rights pertaining to “The Assault on Tony’s” by John O’Brien are the property of his estate.
Also, my name was erroneously listed as Maureen O’Brien. I am John’s sister and my first name is Erin.
I brought these matters to the attention of the editorial staff of the Hollywood Reporter shortly after the article ran, but my efforts were to no avail.
