Fox is Remaking 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA Too

Fox Studios is preparing to make a “20,000 Leagues under the Sea” movie, reports the THR Blog. As announced previously, Disney Studios is also planning a 3-D movie based on the Jules Verne novel. Since the novel is considered part of the public domain, anyone can take the novel and convert it into a movie.
The man behind the project is writer Travis Beacham. He approached Scott Free Productions with the idea of moving “20,000 Leagues” into the future with a bit of a science fiction spin. The Scotts (Tony and Ridley) will produce. Talk is that Timur Bekmambetov will direct.
Disney is at the gestation period of the project. They are currently negotiating with David Fincher to direct. The script will most likely be written by Scott Z. Burns. Since Fox already has a script, they most likely will get their “20,000 Leagues” into the sea first.
