Ellen Page Cast in FREEHELD
Ellen Page will star in “Freeheld“, based on the award-winning documentary of the same name by Cynthia Wade. The movie will be based on the true story of New Jersey mechanic Stacie Andree and her lover, police detective Laurel Hester. The plot centers around their struggle to obtain spousal benefits for Andree after her girlfriend was diagnosed with a terminal illness.
The screenplay will be penned by Ron Nyswaner and the project will be financed by Endgame Entertainment. Nyswaner was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on the movie, “Philadelphia”. Nyswaner’s screen adaptation of “Hamlet” is currently in production.
You can remember Ellen Page grow up before our eyes, from the gawky kid in Canadian sitcom, “Trailer Park Boys”, to a vengeful teenager in “Hard Candy”. Filming is set to start later this year.
