James Franco Also Cast in RISE OF THE APES

James Franco has landed the leading role in the “Planet of the Apes” prequel, “Rise of the Apes” according to a THR blog. The FOX production will focus on the lead role Franco will play as a scientist responsible for the rise to dominance of apes.
The movie revolves around a scientist, played by Franco, who has been conducting tests on apes in search of a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. Caesar, the main test subject, begins to evolve rapidly as a result of the testing and in order to protect him from the evil intentions of other doctors; Franco’s character takes Caesar home with him. The film is meant to depict the event that lead to the rise of apes to a position of dominance over mankind as depicted in the original features from the 1960s and 1970s.
No human actors will play the role of any apes in the film, with New Zealand based WETA on board to digitally render all the apes. The company will employ many of the same groundbreaking techniques seen in the hit film “Avatar”.
