Paula Patton Seeking Role in JUMPING THE BROOM
Actress Paula Patton is working on a deal to star in a new wedding themed romantic comedy according to the Hollywood Reporter. The new film is called JUMPING THE BROOM and will be directed by a veteran of the small screen, Salim Akil.
The romantic comedy follows the clash of two African-American families with vastly different socioeconomic backgrounds. The clash between the sides occurs during a weekend wedding at Martha’s Vineyard. Patton is expected to be cast as the leading female from the wealthy family. The film is expected to begin shooting this summer in Nova Scotia.
Patton is currently onscreen in the Queen Latifah romance film “Just Wright” and also played the role of a teacher in the Oscar nominated film “Precious”. Arlene Gibbs and Elizabeth Hunter wrote the script for “Jumping the Broom” and Bishop T.D. Jakes, Curtis Wallace, Tracey Edmonds, Glendon Palmer and Elizabeth Hunter will produce the project for Sony.
