HITMAN 2 Gets a Writer and a Director
20th Century Fox has hired director Daniel Benmayor and writer Daniel Casey to take the lead on “Hitman 2” according to THR Blog. “Hitman 2” will be the sequel to the studio’s 2007 film adaptation of the popular video game.
In the first movie, Timothy Olyphant played the role of a genetically engineered assassin. The assassin was known only as Agent 47. At this point in time it is unknown if Olyphant will return to reprise his role in the sequel. Adrian Askarieh, Chuck Gordon and Alex Young will produce the project while Daniel Alter is on board as the executive producer.
Casey’s film “The Death of Michael Smith” won the grand jury prize at the 2007 Slamdance Film Festival and his notoriety increased when he wrote the script “Jimmy Six,” which appeared on last year’s Blacklist. Benmayor is a well known Spanish commercial director who has previously worked on the low-budget horror movie “Paintball.” He is currently in post production on “Bruc”, a Spanish action film.
