And The New Spider-Man 4 Actor Is…

As director Marc Webb prepares to begin production on the fourth installment in the “Spider Man” franchise, the list of actors in the running to play the lead role has been narrowed to five. According to THR Blog, Webb has narrowed his list in the last week or two to Jamie Bell, Alden Ehrenreich, Frank Dillane, Andrew Garfield, and Josh Hutcherson.
Bell is one of the older and more seasoned choices remaining for Webb. The 24 year old Englishmen has already appeared in such Hollywood films as “King Kong” and “Defiance”, and has even played a role in a comic adaptation as Tintin in the film “The Adventures of Tintin” which hits theaters in December 2011. Ehrenreich (20), Dillane (19), Garfield (27), and Hutcherson (18) are all relatively unknown with little in the way of blockbuster credentials. Ehrenreich appeared in Francis Ford Coppola’s 2009 film “Tetro” while Dillane’s biggest credit to date was a minor role in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” as a young Tom Riddle.
Webb has a desire to go with relative unknowns for the role of Peter Parker in the upcoming reboot of the franchise. It is expected to be a teen centered story focusing on Peter Parker’s early high school days.
