SAVE THE LAST DANCE Director To Shoot Another Dance Flick DREAM ON

Thomas Carter has been tapped to direct the upcoming teen dance movie “Dream On” according to the Hollywood Reporter. Mandate Pictures hired Carter, who previously directed “Save the Last Dance”, to work alongside producer Laurence Mark (“Dreamgirls”) and screenwriter Jason Ubaldi.
The plot of the film follows a 17 year old girl who has had her dreams of becoming an Olympic gymnast ended after an injury. In the aftermath of her injury the girl becomes immersed in the underground hip-hop scene in Atlanta. In addition to directing the film, Carter will have a hand in producing the project along with Mark. Mandate hopes to have the film in production by the end of the year.
In addition to directing “Save the Last Dance”, Carter has directed other feature films that include “Swing Kids”, “Metro”, and “Coach Carter” as well as TV series episodes from “Equal Justice”, “Miami Vice”, and “St. Elsewhere”.
