Fox Searchlight Looking For The New SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

Fox Searchlight is hoping to replicate the success of some of their biggest films by returning to India. Slumdog Millionaire is one of the all-time biggest hits for the Searchlight division, and Crazy Heart was wildly popular among older audiences. According to LA Times’ 24 Frames the specialty division wants to combines those two audiences by adapting the book These Foolish Things into a feature film.

The novel These Foolish Things was written by Deborah Moggach. The feature film, entitled The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, follows a group of senior citizens from England who gain a new lease on life after a trip to India. A number of actors are in contention to star in the film and producers are negotiating with several directors. “Slumdog” vet Dev Patel is rumored to be in the mix to co-star in the film.
