KNIGHT AND DAY Movie Opening Two Days Earlier

Fox has decided to move up the opening date for their upcoming action comedy “Knight and Day” starring Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise by two days according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film will now open on June 23 instead of June 25, moving it to a midweek opening when no other big films are set to hit theaters.
Fox executives said they moved up the release date to generate good word of mouth for the film ahead of the Independence Day weekend; a weekend that is widely regarded as the biggest on the theatrical calendar.
By releasing the film two days earlier, Fox will get a head start on the market before several big releases hit theaters just before the July 4th weekend. The third installment of the “Twilight” series, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”, hits theaters June 30 and Paramount releases “The Last Airbender” two days later.
