Vanessa Hudgen’s BEASTLY Postponed
CBS Films has decided to postpone the release of the upcoming Vanessa Hudgens romantic fantasy “Beastly” until next year according to the Hollywood Reporter. The newcomer on the indie scene, CBS Films has suffered two lackluster releases so far this year and plans to release just one more movie, bumping Hudgens’ film to next year.
In “Beastly”, Alex Pettyfer plays the role of a young man cast under a dark spell and has just one year to find a young woman to love. Another factor in CBS’ decision to bump the film nearly eight months is the planned release by Universal of “Charlie St. Cloud”. The film that has some similar themes is set to release on July 30, the same date “Beastly” was set to release. “St. Cloud” happens to star Hudgens boyfriend, actor Zac Efron.
CBS Films distribution topper Steven Friedlander felt the company had little choice but to delay the film. “Beastly” is now scheduled to hit theaters March 18th. CBS will release its last film this year in November, an action thriller titled “Faster” that stars Billy Bob Thornton and Dwayne Johnson.
