Tim Burton To Direct MONSTERPOCALYPSE?

DreamWorks is currently negotiating with screenwriter John August to pen the upcoming project “Monsterpocalypse”. The studio is also in negotiations with billion dollar director Tim Burton to direct the film. If DreamWorks can sign both men it will be the fourth time the pair have worked together.
DreamWorks acquired the rights to “Monsterpocalypse” last month. The film is an adaptation of a strategy game that features monsters, aliens, robots, and insects doing battle throughout a cityscape, destroying it in the process. Matt Wilson created the game and will co-produce the movie project. A comic was recently released by Desperado that is a spin off from the characters in the game. If both Burton and August sign onto the DreamWorks’ project, it will be the fourth time they have worked together after teaming up for “Big Fish,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” and “Corpse Bride.”
The pair already has a project in development at the moment with Warner Bros. August and Burton are working on a film adaptation of the ’60s TV show “Dark Shadows” with Johnny Depp set to star in the film.

John August is going to be a panelist at Austin Film Festival 2010. I recommend you attend if you will be around.
