Robert Rodriguez To Direct DEADPOOL With Ryan Reynolds?
Robert Rodriguez is being considered by Fox to lead the production of their new comic book adaptation “Deadpool.” While many media outlets had stated that Rodriguez had in fact been offered the job, he has only been presented with a script and no offer has been extended.
Rob Liefeld adapted the Marvel comic for the big screen and the script was written by the writers who penned the screenplay for “Zombieland.” Actor Ryan Reynolds is on board to play the role of Marvel’s mouthy mercenary.
Rodriguez is currently working on “Machete” which is being distributed by Fox. With that film far from arriving at the box office, it is hard to determine if Rodriguez will be the right fit for “Deadpool.” The director/producer scored a big hit with “Sin City,” but struggled with follow up films like “Shorts” and “Grindhouse”. Rodriguez worked on “Grindhouse” with Quentin Tarantino, directing the “Planet Terror” half of the bill which fared worse.
