DreamWorks Animation Has a New Project With Good Luck Trolls
DreamWorks Animation is planning to bring the frizzy haired Good Luck Trolls to the big screen. The animation giants behind the “Shrek” franchise agreed to a deal with Dam Things of Denmark, who own the rights to the toy line, to create an animated feature film.
There is no title yet for the project, but brother-sister duo Adam Wilson and Melanie Wilson LaBracio will write the screenplay for the film based upon the toy trolls that were first introduced in 1959. The dolls were created by Thomas Dam, a fisherman and woodcutter, for his daughter based upon Scandinavian trolls.
Previous animated attempts have been made based upon the trolls. The last was DIC Entertainment’s 2005 animated series “Trollz.” The show was aimed at young girls but did not experience the success of earlier versions. Niels Dam, the son of Thomas who now runs the family business, said his father would be proud to see that his dolls have reached such heights.
