Matt Damon in “WE BOUGHT A ZOO”?

Matt Damon is in early talks to join the cast of the upcoming film “We Bought a Zoo.” The film is an adaptation of Benjamin Mee’s memoir and will be directed by Cameron Crowe. Fox is producing the film.
The film will tell the story of Benjamin Mee who used his life savings to purchase a dilapidated zoo in the English countryside. The zoo is full of 200 exotic animals that faced destruction without Mee’s intervention. Over time, Mee and his family must balance running the zoo and caring for his wife who is dying of brain cancer. Damon will play the role of Mee if he joins the cast.
Damon isn’t known for acting in these kinds of heart-tugging, tear-jerker films, instead making a name for himself in action thrillers. Damon can next be seen on the big screen in the supernatural film “The Adjustment Bureau.” Crowe, who rewrote the script for “Zoo,” will be working on his first project since “Elizabethtown” in 2005.
