Dermot Mulroney To Direct Soccer Legend George Weah Biopic

Actor turned director Dermot Mulroney is ready to step behind the camera for the second time to direct a biopic about Liberian soccer star George Weah. Mulroney recently wrapped up shooting his directorial debut, a romantic comedy entitled “Love Wedding Marriage.”
George Weah was an international soccer star from Liberia who moved on to become a humanitarian in his native country before deciding to run for president. Mulroney and producers Tharita Cutulle and Rainier Negri spent the last year negotiating with Weah to snag the life rights to Weah’s story. Mulroney, in addition to being a huge soccer fan, has a particular interest in Africa after producing the 2006 documentary “God Grew Tired of Us,” which told the story of the Sudanese Lost Boys.
Mulroney’s directorial debut, “Love Wedding Marriage,” stars Mandy Moore, Kellan Lutz, James Brolin and Jane Seymour, and is currently in the editing phase. The next step in his Weah project will be to secure funding for the film.
