Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are in final negotiations to direct and co-write Warner Bros.’ upcoming film based upon Lego toys. The pair recently directed Sony Animation’s “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.”
The duo had to develop a presentation to a group of executives from both Warner Bros. and Lego. Warner is holding potential presentations to a high standard and Lego has had a heavy hand in the process as they are very protective of their toys and brands. The script for the film is a tightly guarded secret but is expected to an adventure film with a mix of live action and animation all set in the world of Lego.
Lord and Miller’s 3D animated adaptation “Cloudy” grossed more than $243 million worldwide and garnered numerous nominations during last year’s awards season. The pair is currently developing the big-screen adaptation of the TV show “21 Jump Street” for Columbia.
