The KINKS Album’s “Schoolboys in Disgrace” To Become a Movie

Kinks’ lovers rejoice as the band’s seminal album “Schoolboys in Disgrace” is going to be made into a musical film. The script for the film was penned by Bobcat Goldthwait who will direct the film. Goldthwait developed a script based upon the songs on the album written by Ray Davies, who will executive produce the film.
Goldthwait’s script follows a schoolboy and his gang who manage to rub everyone the wrong way. The student becomes bitter and disillusioned after his headmaster embarrasses him and vows to fight “the establishment”. Production duo Howard Gertler and Tim Perell, who worked together on “Last Chance Harvey” and “World’s Greatest Dad,” will produce the project which is to be shot entirely in the UK.
Producers and backers of the film have said the original songs from the group’s album will be re-recorded by the cast members, and that a new album would be released along with the film.
