Denzel Washington Going Into a SAFE HOUSE
Actor Denzel Washington has entered negotiations to star in the upcoming spy thriller “Safe House.” The film was acquired by Universal in a heated bidding war in February and will be directed by Daniel Espinosa based upon David Guggenheim’s script.
After an attack on a CIA safe house leaves all agents dead except one, he must now escort the target of the attack to a second safe house while dodging dangerous forces that want both men dead. Washington will play the role of the bad guy being escorted to the second safe house by a young CIA agent. Washington’s last role as the bad guy in a film, as a crooked cop in “Training Day,” earned him an Oscar.
Washington recently won a Tony for his work on the August Wilson play “Fences.” He also recently finished filming “Unstoppable” which will be released by Fox in November. The actor is slated to appear in “Matarese Circle” also, but that film has been frozen due to MGM’s financial woes.
