Marvel Says No To Edward Norton as Hulk in THE AVENGERS

Edward Norton

The upcoming adaptation of the Marvel graphic novel “The Avengers” will see a new actor cast in the role of Hulk. Marvel Studios has decided not to bring back Ed Norton in the role of Bruce Banner in the film, instead seeking a new face for the role.

“The Avengers” will be directed by Joss Whedon and features a star lineup with Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. This will be the first feature film featuring the entire superhero team in one film. Norton and the studio had previously met to discuss his role in the film and it appeared he would reprise the role of Bruce Banner, but a recent statement from Marvel’s President proved otherwise. Kevin Feige said that the studio decided to go in a different direction, seeking instead to cast an actor as the Hulk that meshes with the collaborative spirit of the other actors in the cast.

Feige’s statement was intriguing as it appears to insinuate that Norton would not collaborate well with the other actors in the film. Ed Norton and Eric Bana were the most recent actors to portray the Hulk on the big screen.
