Disney is Going Gargoyle

Disney Studios will be staying in the business of magic movies with the release of news that the studio is developing a project about gargoyles. Disney is hoping to hire writer Zoe Green to develop a screenplay for Lauren Shuler Donner and Jack Leslie to produce.
The studio is looking to develop a story around the stone creatures built upon mythology. Gargoyles were originally designed during Medieval times to serve as water spouts but became symbols used in attracting or deterring evil. Little is known about the specifics of Disney’s project except for the fact that it will be set in modern times.
Green is making a name for herself in the fantasy world having written the film “Tigress” which is being produced for Disney, and “Book of Shadows” for Castle Rock which Rob Reiner will direct. Disney has their latest fantasy film “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” opening in theaters on Wednesday.
