John Edwards Movie In The Making
Television and feature film screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is taking on a major role in an upcoming feature film about John Edwards. Sorkin acquired the rights to “The Politician: An Insider’s Account of John Edwards’s Pursuit of the Presidency and the Scandal That Brought Him Down,” which was written by Andrew Young who was a confidant of the former presidential candidate.
Young joined the Edwards team in 1998 and quickly became a close confidant of the North Carolina politician. 10 years later during the 2008 presidential primaries, Young became disturbed by the immoral requests Edwards was making of him regarding his mistress and their child. Sorkin will not only write and produce the film adaptation, but will also make his directorial debut.
Sorkin has been a mainstay on television and in feature films for years. His most recent work includes writing the screenplay for “The Social Network.” In addition to writing the script for “Charlie Wilson’s War,” “The American President,” and “A Few Good Men,” Sorkin created the television series “The West Wing.”
