BORAT Director to Helm New Jim Carrey Comedy
Larry Charles has been hired to direct the upcoming comedy ‘Pierre Pierre’ starring Jim Carrey. The director is no stranger to outrageous comedies having directed Sacha Baren Cohen in both ‘Bruno’ and ‘Borat.’
The film tells the story of an ill-behaved Frenchman tasked with transporting stolen art from Paris to London. The comedy is now set to move forward after several setbacks almost derailed the project entirely. The film once had Jason Reitman, who directed ‘Juno,’ and the script was sold for $1 million. After Fox Atomic got a hold of the project, Reitman dropped out of the project and then Fox Atomic imploded, leaving the film trapped on the shelf. With the addition of Charles the film appears back on track.
Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch of Escape Artists, and Category 5″s Brian Sher, are producing the film and with Charles on board plan on shopping the film again to studios. The team plans to make the film with a budget of %2420 million.
