Is DAN DARE The New Superhero?
Warner Bros. studio has purchased the feature film rights to the British film “Dan Dare.” Sam Worthington is attached to star in the project which will be produced by Basil Iwanyk through the Thunder Road banner.
Frank Hampson created “Dan Dare,” which first appeared in comics during the 1950s. The story was set in the 1990s on planets presumed to hold extraterrestrial life forms. The stories focused on a brave chief pilot of an Interplanet Space Fleet. “Dan Dare” has appeared on British radio programs and was also developed into a television series entitled “Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future.”
Worthington has been attached to the project for some time now and recently finished work on “The Fields.” He can next be seen alongside Helen Mirren in John Madden’s film “The Debt.” Iwanyk produced the Ben Affleck drama “The Town” which comes out in September and will team again with Worthington on “Clash of the Titans 2.”
