Daniel Craig On Board For “THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO”
Actor Daniel Craig has finalized a deal to join the cast of the upcoming film “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” The film is based upon the novel of the same title from the late Stieg Larsson.
Craig will play the role of journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the upcoming film. The film is the first in a trilogy of novels, and possibly films, from Larsson. The other novels in the series are entitled “The Girl Who Played With Fire” and “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets’ Nest.” In order to get Craig on the cast, a good deal of juggling needed to occur between Sony Pictures, DreamWorks, and Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson who hold the rights to the James Bond films.
Craig’s role on “Dragon Tattoo” will be filmed when his commitment to DreamWorks’ “Cowboys and Aliens” is completed in late fall. The financial meltdown at MGM has put the future of the next James Bond film in doubt, leaving more time for Craig.
