Director Joseph Kosinski is going around to studios this week pitching a feature film adaptation of the novel “Oblivion.” Kosinski is looking for studio backing for his project based upon the science fiction graphic novel he developed for Radical Publishing.

The story follows a soldier left on the surface of a now uninhabitable Earth. While most of the world’s population lives safely above the clouds, the lone soldier is tasked with repairing an army of drones that search out and destroy an alien race known as the “Scavengers.” The post apocalyptic graphic novel turns into a love story when the soldier comes across a beautiful woman who has crashed on the Earth’s surface and their interactions change his view of the world.

Kosinski jumped to notoriety for his direction of the film “Tron: Legacy.” His “Oblivion” project has been on the back burner since, but has now reached the top of his list. Kosinski first shopped the project with Disney earlier this week, assuming they don’t jump on the film it will be taken elsewhere later in the week.
