Jason Reitman and Charlize Theron Going For Diablo Cody’s YOUNG ADULT

Director Jason Reitman and actress Charlize Theron are in negotiations to team up for the film project “Young Adult.” The script, written by Diablo Cody, was purchased by Mandate in March.
The dark comedy tells the story of a divorced female writer living in Minneapolis. The thirtysomething woman returns to her hometown in search of the “one that got away”, even though he is now married and had a child. Reitman, who may also produce on the project, last directed the film “Up in the Air.” The project for “Young Adult” brings back together a majority of the group that put together the film “Juno.” Financing is still being put together for the film, but all sides involved hope to get production underway in New York by October.
Lianne Halfon and Russell Smith of Mr. Mudd will produce the film along with Mason Novick and Cody. Mandate, Mr. Mudd, and Novick all teamed up to produce “Juno,” which was also written by Cody and directed by Reitman. Theron last starred in the feature film “The Burning Plain.”
