TRON LEGACY Director’s Comic Book OBLIVION To Become a Movie

Director Joseph Kosinski’s upcoming graphic novel “Oblivion” has been picked up by Disney to be adapted into a feature film. Kosinski already has a working relationship with Disney, having directed “Tron Legacy” for the studio.
“Oblivion,” which was written by Arvid Nelson with Andree Wallin as the artist, tells the story of a futuristic Earth which has seen the surface rendered unlivable. The remaining humans live above the fray, in the clouds, while a species of aliens scavenges the ground below. The center of the story follows a robot repairman who finds a woman from above in her crashed vehicle on the surface. The two then embark on a journey full of love and adventure.
The deal to bring “Oblivion” to Disney as a directing vehicle for Kosinski is reportedly in the area of seven figures and is said to be the largest such deal of the year. Kosinski is currently working on a new version of “Black Hole” that has received praise so far within Disney.

Seems a bit dark for Disney. I would think Disney would be better off to pick a good family oriented science fiction fantasy like ‘Quest of the Shadow-Forge’, where a young boy overcomes his handicaps on his journey to manhood. Anyone who has read the book can see its potential. The boy is trained by a cosmic entity on Earth, is astrally projected to the dual planets in another galaxy, attains an ‘avatar’ like body, solves the mystery of the source seed, joins with a crystal, separates and thereby saves the two planets, and sacrifices himself into a black hole. This book has been around since 2009 and is a screen writer’s dream.
