Reese Witherspoon Looking To Star As Peggy Lee
Reese Witherspoon is reportedly looking to star as another female music legend in an untitled biopic about Peggy Lee. Witherspoon brought the project to Fox 2000 after getting the rights to the singer’s life story from her estate. Witherspoon, who will produce the film regardless, is currently negotiating a starring role in the film as well.
Peggy Lee was a singer, songwriter, and actor who got her start in the 1940s singing with Benny Goodman’s band. Lee was born in North Dakota in 1920 and went on to become an icon, recording several jazz-inspired albums, composing film soundtracks, and even appearing in movies such as “The Jazz Singer.” Witherspoon is bringing together a familiar team to help her get the project rolling. Nora Ephron is attached to write the script for the film and direct while Marc Platt will produce along with Witherspoon. Platt produced the “Legally Blond” films that Witherspoon starred in.
Witherspoon is no stranger to portraying singing legends. She won an Oscar in 2005 for her portrayal of June Carter in “Walk the Line.”
