New Movies In Theaters This Friday, August 13, 2010
Wondering what movies are coming out to theaters this Friday, August 13, 2010? Well, I have two words for you: Scott Pilgrim! Already got my ticket for it and can’t wait to see it. But that’s not all, Eat, Pray Love is also coming out this week and dammit those trailers have totally gotten me excited for it. And if you’re looking for a really powerful movie, I recommend you check out Lebanon, it’s an amazing movie which takes place entirely in a tank during the First Lebanon War. And if nothing has convinced you so far, there are still plenty other movies to choose from this weekend, so check out the list below and make your choice. Have a great weekend!

Animal Kingdom (Limited) – Review
Animal Kingdom Synopsis: Pope Cody, an armed robber on the run from a gang of renegade detectives, is in hiding, surrounded by his roughneck friends and family. Soon, Pope’s nephew, Joshua “J” Cody, arrives and moves in with his hitherto estranged relatives. When tensions between the family and the police reach a bloody peak, “J” finds himself at the center of a cold-blooded revenge plot that turns the family upside down.
Eat Pray Love

Lebanon (Limited) – Review
Lebanon Synopsis: The First Lebanon War – June, 1982. A lone tank is dispatched to search a hostile town that has already been bombarded by the Israeli Air Force. What seems to be a simple mission gradually spins out of control. Shmuel the gunner, Assi the commander, Herzl the loader and Yigal the driver are the tank’s crew, four 20-something boys who have never fought in a war and are now operating a killing machine. Though trying to remain brave, the boys are pushed to their mental limits as they struggle to survive in a situation they cannot contain, and try not to lose their humanity in the chaos of war.
Peepli Live (Limited)
Peepli Live Synopsis: After losing their plot of land over an unpaid government loan two brothers and farmers by profession, Natha and Budhia residing in the heart of rural India seek the help of a local politician. Not concerned with their plight the politician mockingly suggests that the brothers commit suicide and benefit from a government scheme that aids the families of indebted farmers who have done so. Budhia the shrewder of the two immediately encourages Natha a simpleton by nature to think of the greater good of their family and do the needful. Their drunken conversation in a bar is overheard by a journalist. The next day it appears in a local newspaper under the header “A Death Foretold in Peepli Village.” The article sparks off a chain of events that reaches the highest corridors of power in India’s political machinery. With elections around the corner what would otherwise have been common fare turns into a ’cause celebre’ with everybody wanting a piece of the action. From the glitzy television studios in New Delhi to the Agricultural Ministry, journalists, newsmen, local and national politicians descend upon the little village to stake their claim. The question on everybody on everyone’s lips is, “Will he or Won’t he?” As the circus propagates itself what will be the fate of farmer Natha where nobody stops to ask how he really feels.

Tales from Earthsea (Limited)
Tales from Earthsea Synopsis: From famed Japanese animators Studio Ghibli comes “Tales from Earthsea,” a sweeping adventure set in a mythical world filled with magic and bewitchment. An epic tale of redemption and self-discovery, the story follows the journey of Lord Archmage Sparrowhawk (voice of Timothy Dalton), the master wizard, as he searches for the force behind a mysterious disturbance that has caused an imbalance in the land of Earthsea-suddenly crops and livestock are dwindling, dragons have reappeared and humanity is giving way to chaos. Along the way he rescues Arren (voice of Matt Levin), a troubled young prince who has fled his home and is being pursued by an enigmatic shadow. Arren joins Sparrowhawk on the quest and, moving closer to their intertwined destinies, they cross paths with Tenar (voice of Mariska Hargitay), a former priestess, and her disfigured adopted daughter, Therru. With Sparrowhawk’s magical powers dissipating, all of them must band together to defeat the evil Cob (voice of Willem Dafoe) and his henchman Hare (voice of Cheech Marin) before Cob’s mania to find immortality destroys Earthsea.
