Actress Rose Byrne is nearing a deal to join the cast of the upcoming X-men reboot entitled “X-Men: First Class.” Director Matthew Vaughn is directing the reboot of the popular comic book franchise which is in production at Fox.

If negotiations are successful Byrne will join the cast in the role of Moira MacTaggert, an expert on genetic mutations who becomes romantically involved with Charles Xavier. Byrne would be the latest addition to an impressive cast that includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Alice Eve. McAvoy will play Xavier with Fassbender cast as Magneto and Bacon to play a villain in the film. The specifics of the new X-men flick are unknown, but it will follow the superheroes from a younger point in their lives than previously covered in the preceding trilogy of films.

Byrne starred the summer comedy “Get Him to the Greek” and is well known for her role alongside Glenn Close in the television series “Damages.”
