Oliver Platt Latest To Join “X-Men: First Class”
Oliver Platt has just become the latest actor to join the cast of the upcoming X-Men reboot entitled “X-Men: First Class.” The film is being produced by 20th Century Fox and Matthew Vaughn will direct the film which will feature none of the stars from the original trilogy.
Platt has been cast in the role of the Man in Black, a character who is not a mutant. The film will follow the team of superhero mutants from a younger age than the previous trilogy did. James McAvoy will star as telepathic mutant leader Charles Xavier with the likes of Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and Kevin Bacon (villain) also on board. The film begins shooting next month in London.
Platt will be starring in the new Showtime series “The Big C” with Laura Linney and will next appear on the big screen in “Love and Other Drugs.” Platt is the second actor to join the cast in the past week after Rose Byrne was cast as Moira MacTaggert.
