James McAvoy To Reboot Professor X Role in “X-Men: First Class”
James McAvoy, who is set to star as Professor Xavier in the reboot of the X-Men franchise, admitted that his faces a tough task in reinventing the role made famous by Patrick Stewart. McAvoy will play the role of a younger Professor Xavier in the upcoming “X-Men: First Class.”
During an interview with MTV News McAvoy said that the only chance he had of successfully reinventing the character of Professor Xavier was to “bury” the performance of Stewart. Stewart crafted a respected and austere version of Professor Xavier over the course of the original three films in the franchise, leaving McAvoy with an uphill battle to reinvent the character.
McAvoy’s Professor Xavier will be known simply as Charles Xavier in the reboot and will be a younger version whose most notable different feature will be a full head of hair.
